Wasted Traditions
Wasted traditions is a slow-motion performance work depicting a variety of Australian drinking rituals. These rituals include shoeys, goon of fortune and drinking from a yard glass. The work employs an immersive approach that focuses on my experiences of drinking on the Central Coast, Australia. By focusing on my close drinking circle, the rituals aim to convey the sense of ‘mateship’ and intimacy that surrounds our consumption of alcohol. The work also aims to provide a more authentic portrayal of these rituals to serve as an anthropological example of our way of life.
